Summer Reading

There is only a month and a half left of summer and if you are like me, you want to take up any and all time devoted to reading with only the best. Well, here they are: well written, compelling, creative and unique reads for the leader out there.

1) Nurture shock by Po Bronson
This is a must read for all leaders of the next gen. Whether employers of the young, teachers, parents, or youth leaders, if your business is in leading the next generation this read destroys some faulty assumptions which propel us to different styles, strategies, and tactics in our leadership. There is nothing like it in stores!

2) The Contrarian’s guide to leadership by Steve Sample
After a while all leadership books begin to blend. Not this one. The Contrarian’s Guide to Leadership explores the agenda’s of those you are leading, the leadership of Machiavelli, and how to construct the right filters and friends for leadership decision making. This is the definition of unique when it comes to a piece on leadership.

3) A Whole in our Gospel by Richard Sterns
My wife and I just took in two more foster Children in the middle of this read. If there ever needed to be a gut check on the theology and philosophy of the church, this might be just that. If this book influences you the way it has me, get ready for a major shift in the way you are living.

Are there any other books you would add to the list?
